Are you suffering from an ingrown toenail?

Onychocryptosis can be very painful and noticeably affect quality of life. Many people avoid a procedure — often without good reason.

Severe pain

Every step can become a burden. Tight shoes or sport are barely possible.

Recurring problems

Many measures only ease the problem for a short time. The aim of a suitable treatment is to reduce recurring symptoms over the long term.

The alternative to surgery

The classic wedge resection is a well-established surgical procedure. Depending on the findings, the CO₂ laser method can be a gentle, outpatient alternative.

The treatment: minimally invasive CO₂ laser surgery

Our practice uses modern CO₂ laser technology to treat the inflamed tissue and the affected nail root precisely and gently — an outpatient alternative to classic surgical procedures, depending on the findings.

Minimally invasive: without an incision or sutures
Low in bleeding; usually well tolerated under local anaesthesia
Outpatient in Frankfurt — as a rule a single appointment
As a rule a return to everyday life is possible right afterwards
No follow-up appointment for suture removal needed

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most important questions

Short and factual — detailed answers on the FAQ page.

The procedure is usually carried out under local anaesthesia, so the treatment is generally well tolerable. Pain perception is individual. Because the laser method is minimally invasive, discomfort after the procedure is, in our clinical experience, often mild.

German statutory health insurers generally do not cover the laser method. For international and self-pay patients it is a private service. You will receive a detailed cost estimate from us in advance.

As a rule you can go home right after the treatment and resume everyday activities. We recommend taking it easy on the foot for one to two days.

In most cases a single treatment appointment is enough. As no sutures are placed, a separate appointment for suture removal is not needed.

The classic wedge resection requires an incision into the tissue, sutures and, as a rule, several follow-up appointments. The CO₂ laser method works without a scalpel, without sutures and, as a rule, with a shorter healing time.
