Laser treatment for an ingrown toenail
At Nagelneu Laser in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, we treat ingrown toenails with modern CO₂ laser technology — precise, outpatient and after informed consent.
What is a CO₂ laser treatment?
The CO₂ laser can treat tissue very precisely. With an ingrown toenail, inflamed tissue and — depending on the findings — relevant portions of the nail can be treated in a targeted way. The aim is a gentle, controlled treatment.
The treatment takes place on an outpatient basis at our practice in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Local anaesthesia is possible or usual depending on the findings.
When can a laser treatment be sensible?
A laser treatment may be considered in particular for:
- recurring complaints
- pain at the nail edge
- inflammation in the nail-fold area
- granulation tissue (proud flesh)
- when conservative measures are not sufficient
- when patients wish to have a medical assessment
Whether the treatment is suitable in an individual case is decided by the doctor based on the findings and informed consent.
Advantages of the laser treatment
- precise treatment of the affected area
- possible on an outpatient basis
- no classic incision surgery in the usual sense
- low in bleeding in many cases
- no sutures to be removed
- short treatment time depending on the findings
Individual courses may differ. A medical assessment is always a prerequisite.
Limits of the laser treatment
Not every ingrown toenail needs to be lasered. With mild complaints, conservative measures may be sufficient. In the case of a severe infection, a different medical treatment may be necessary.
Which treatment is sensible can only be decided after the findings and a detailed explanation.
